Pro Series Router Platform

Pro Series routers are CompactPCI-based systems that represent ImageStream's premium router platform. Pro Series routers use CompactPCI chassis and single board computers, CompactPCI and PMC network adapters, and ImageStream Linux to deliver a competitive high-performance platform for network applications requiring T1/E1/J1, DS3/E3/J2, OC3/STM1 and OC12/STM4 connectivity.

The list below includes premium capabilities of the Pro Series platform that are not typically available in the Industrial Series PCI platform:

  • Front panel serviceability
  • Back panel cabling for NEBS compliance
  • Hot-swap interface cards
  • Packet co-processing
  • Extended temperature operation
  • High availability

Pro Series routers share a common line of CompactPCI cards and PMC cards. By using a single line of compatible interface cards, manufacturers and end users can deploy these cards in any Pro Series chassis. This approach increases end user flexibility and reduces the inventory required to support a wide range of applications.

Depending on your application, Pro Series chassis may be configured with Intel or PowerPC processors. In either case, ImageStream Linux works the same. By choosing a router distribution that supports multiple target processors, your products can take advantage of the higher performance and wider availability of Intel processors, or the lower power consumption and lower heat dissipation of PowerPC processors.

The Pro Series includes the Rebel Pro, the Gateway Pro, the Enterprise Pro, and the Carrier Pro II. Each chassis provides a 64-bit CompactPCI backplane, and different capabilities in terms of form factor, buses, card expansion, and environmental specifications.

Depending on the targeted market, an OEM may use any or all of the Pro Series chassis to develop the right product mix. Some OEMs will want to take advantage of standard designs using components that ImageStream stocks in inventory, while others will require custom solutions to meet their customer's unique requirements. In either case, ImageStream can provide complete product solutions based on standard or custom designs. ImageStream can also provide custom screen printing to assist you with the branding of your products.

The Carrier Pro II is a 10U rackmount chassis that is designed to meet the expectations of five nines (99.999%) uptime using a tightly coupled architecture with redundant CPUs, buses, alarm systems, power supplies, and fans. The Carrier Pro II also supports rear panel transition modules as required for NEBS compliance, and it offers options for 23" rackmounting and hot-swap redundant AC or DC power supplies.

Enterprise Pro Product Platform

The Enterprise Pro is an 8U 7-slot rackmount chassis with support for different processor cards and rear panel cabling. The Enterprise Pro also includes hot-swap cooling fans, redundant power supplies, and H.110 telephony bus, as well as options for redundant AC or DC power.

The Gateway Pro is a 4U 5-slot rackmount chassis with horizontally oriented cards. The Gateway Pro supports a variety of different processor cards, passive backplanes, and power supplies including single AC, single DC, redundant AC, and redundant DC.
