Hardware Overview

ImageStream supplies a wide range of commodity industrial PC components as a part of our complete manufactured solutions. Some of these hardware components include chassis, backplanes, single board computers (SBCs), packet processors, and flash memory.

Chassis

ImageStream chassis are product enclosures that are designed to satisfy your unique requirements. Some products must be small, and sit nicely on a desk. Others must be wall-mounted or rackmounted. Some chassis are specified for their expansion capacity, while others are specified because to support a particular backplane or redundant power. ImageStream offers standard enclosures that are available from inventory, as well as custom enclosures that are manufactured to your specifications.

Main Boards and Backplanes

ImageStream offers system solutions that provide either a main board or a backplane. A backplane provides bus interface slots that connect to a standardized plug-in single board computer computer (SBC). In contrast, a main board is a backplane with an integrated computer, much like the main board you would find in a standard PC. The best choice will depend on your application and cost requirements.

Single Board Computers (SBCs)

Single board computers (SBCs) provide the main processor in a system, as well as interface support for memory, storage, and expansion. An SBC is mated with a compatible backplane to provide a complete industrial computer system. Many different SBCs and backplanes are available for easy integration into your networking products.

Packet Processors

Packet processors are used to accelerate packet processing and enhance data throughput. Some packet processors are simply embedded onboard the network interface card, while others are dedicated processing cards or "blades" that provide modular support for many different network interface cards.

Flash Memory

Flash memory is a solid state device that is used to store the operating system, applications, and configuration data that is used in an application. Flash memory serves the same purpose as a hard drive in a conventional PC, except the solid state storage device has no moving parts, which makes it highly relaible.
