Industrial Chassis
ImageStream offers a wide range of standard and custom chassis to suit the needs of our OEM customers. ImageStream chassis provide different form factors such as desktop, wall mount, 19" rackmount and 23" rackmount. Each chassis has specific dimensions that will only support compatible backplanes or main boards.
There are primarily three different types of chassis: PCI with passive backplane, PCI with embedded main board, and CompactPCI. The CompactPCI chassis can be outfitted with standard backplanes that provide 64-bit CPCI bus, as well as optional support for H.110 telephony, CompactPSB switched ethernet, or Star Fabric high-performance switch fabric.
The importance of chassis selection is often overlooked, but it can be one of the most important decisions when developing a new product. Not only is the chassis the main aesthetic point of contact with your customer, but its alignment with your market's standards and practices can make or break a product's success.
For example, when a particular type of product is traditionally marketed in a rackmount chassis, potential customers for that product will expect you to provide a product that can be rackmounted. Similarly, products that are sold to telephone companies for central office installations may require NEBS level 3 compliance, which specifies a number of chassis requirements including front panel serviceability and rear panel cabling. Your ability to successfully specify the chassis for your product will depend on your understanding of the product market, and knowledge of the installation requirements for the range of customers that you plan to support.
Chassis selection is also affected by the product requirements for power and redundancy. For example, some applications require simple AC power, while others may require redundant AC, dual input redundant AC, DC, or redundant DC power. If your marketing objective is to offer a single chassis that supports all of these options, your choices will be limited to the chassis that support those options.
Standard Chassis
ImageStream offers a wide range of standard chassis for PCI and CompactPCI applications. These chassis are available in small quantities for engineering purposes directly from our regular inventory. Larger qunatites are available given standard manufacturing lead times.
Standard chassis for PCI applications include the Industrial Series platform enclosures listed below.

Custom Chassis
When standard chassis do not meet your requirements, ImageStream can provide custom engineered chassis that can satisfy any specification. Custom chassis may be more expensive than standard chassis because ImageStream produces a significant volume of standard chassis which keeps prices low. In addition, some custom chassis must be modified to achieve specific product objectives, and it typically costs more to modify a chassis than it does to use an off-the-shelf chassis. Please contact us for a quote on a custom chassis.
Complete Systems
ImageStream chassis are often used as a part of a complete manufactured solution. A complete manufactured solution can integrate single board computers, passive backplanes, network cards, and software.
