ImageStream Releases ImageStream Linux v3.0

ImageStream has released version 3.0 of the ImageStream Linux router distribution. The 3.0 distribution provides numerous enhancements that are freely available to all ImageStream router customers via the Internet.

At its core, the new ImageStream Linux distribution includes Inetics Version 3.31, ImageStream's latest implementation of the Inetics driver component architecture (IDCA). This Inetics release provides stable support for version 2.4.x Linux kernels, and it includes open beta support for version 2.4.8 and later Linux kernels.

The new Inetics release provides support for new WAN adapters including the 1000 series ATM cards. The v3.31 Inetics driver release also includes the new "irq-affinity" command which allows multiprocessor systems to maintain the proper packet sequence for UDP traffic and other real-time streaming applications.

ImageStream Linux v3.0 also offers several new additions and enhancements to existing packages. New packages and utilities include Net-SNMP for SNMP monitoring, FreeS/WAN for IPsec VPN applications, and IP-Takeover for failover applications. Many packages have also been updated including the menu engine, OpenSSH, QoS scripts, and GateD. The ImageStream Linux v3.0 distribution also provides new utilities for setting an ImageStream router's on-board clock and configuring the serial console for modem or terminal connections.
